How to Spend the Perfect Weekend in Cabo

May 14, 2025

If you're dreaming of a quick getaway filled with sunshine, ocean views, and great food, Cabo San Lucas is a solid choice. It’s easy to get to, packed with things to do, and has plenty of options for relaxing or adventuring. Best of all, you don’t need a full week off to enjoy it.

With just a couple of days, you can soak up the sun, explore a bit of the local flavor, and head home feeling refreshed. Here’s how to make the most of a weekend in Cabo.

Vacation Trip

Check Into the Right Resort

Your hotel or resort is a big part of the experience, especially when time is limited. One of our favorite spots in Cabo is Hacienda Encantada Resort and Residences.

This place has a little bit of everything. It's located right along the coast with beautiful views of the Sea of Cortez. The resort combines luxury with a relaxed, authentic feel. The rooms are decorated with handcrafted textiles and traditional Mexican touches that make it feel warm and welcoming. Plus, each suite has air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and 24-hour room service to keep things easy.

You’ll also find a swim-up bar, beach volleyball, morning yoga, and a full-service spa. If your goal is to unwind, this is a great spot to do it. You can spend your whole weekend on the property and not run out of things to enjoy.

Friday: Arrival and Easy Vibes

Most weekend trips start with an afternoon or evening arrival. Once you land and check in, don’t overthink it. This is your time to settle in, get a feel for your surroundings, and start relaxing.\

Grab a drink by the pool or head straight to one of the on-site restaurants. Hacienda Encantada is known for its variety of dining options, offering both international and traditional Mexican dishes. If you feel like exploring, the resort is just a short ride from downtown Cabo, where the Marina Golden Zone has tons of restaurants and cafes right on the water.

Whether you stay on the property or take a quick trip downtown, aim for a laid-back first evening. You’ve got a full day ahead.

Saturday: Adventure, Food, and Local Flavor

Start your morning with something light and energizing. A beach walk, morning yoga, or a casual breakfast with a view can set the tone for the day.

If you're up for some activity, Cabo offers plenty. You could try a snorkeling tour, a catamaran cruise, or go paddleboarding along the coast. If you’re more into land-based fun, ATV rides or desert hikes are a great way to see a different side of the area.

After some exploring, head back to the resort for a little downtime. A nap by the pool or a massage at the spa is a perfect reset before dinner.

In the evening, head into town if you didn’t already the night before. Cabo’s local food scene is worth checking out. Grab fresh seafood or street tacos, stroll through the marina, and enjoy the mix of locals and travelers who bring the city to life.

Sunday: Pool Time and One Last Look at the Ocean

Sundays are meant to be slow. Sleep in a bit, enjoy a quiet breakfast, and take in one last swim or beach walk. If you’re staying at Hacienda Encantada, you’ve got everything you need to make the most of those last few hours before check-out. Lounge by the pool, grab a bite at the swim-up bar, or stop by the gift shop for a souvenir.

Since Cabo is easy to get in and out of, you won’t have to worry about a stressful travel day. Just pack up, head to the airport, and ease your way back into the real world.

Why Cabo Is Always a Good Idea

Cabo has a way of making you feel like you’re far from everyday life without requiring a long or complicated trip. It’s the kind of place that works whether you’re planning ahead or booking something last minute.

Here’s why travelers love coming back to Cabo again and again:

  • It’s a short flight from many major U.S. cities
  • The weather stays warm and sunny most of the year
  • Resorts have everything you need in one place
  • You can make your trip as relaxing or as adventurous as you want

Whether you're looking for beach time, great food, or a mix of fun and relaxation, Cabo delivers. It’s simple to get to, easy to enjoy, and full of experiences you won’t forget.
